Another Interview
I'm on my way to another interview, this time with Swedish Hospital. Yes, I already accepted the job at UWMC, and I'm a week into orientation, but I figure it'll be worth my while to attend this interview to see what's up at Swedish. It's another chance to wear my suit with the too-tight pants; and that's always a good thing! I'm concerned about how to answer any questions about where I'm working currently or when I'd be available to start working if offered this position. I think it would seem rather flakey if I told them I just started a new job but am looking for a change. Oh well, I guess I'll ad lib something. Maybe I'll tell them I prefer to work at Swedish and that will make them feel special.

The job I'm applying for is in the Emergency Department which is more fun than Oncology. (Plus I think chicks will think it's cooler?) It's much closer to my house so less money to pay for gas. At Swedish, I'm thinking there will be a greater possibility of working overtime if I so choose since there are numerous job openings for Unit Coordinators all over the hospital.

On the other hand, the advantages of the UWMC are that, well, I already have a job there and the people seem nice. They have a good benefits package but, I would assume, so does Swedish. At UWMC I'm working for the State of Washington which somehow makes me feel more secure and they have a pension plan. But that's probably foolish. Anyway, I'll see what I'm offered and go from there.

i don't think telling them you just started someplace else is a good idea...
maybe just say that you are "looking" right now...

Yeah, I think so too. I just got back from the interview. The interviewer was one of those incredibly annoying manager types who DOES NOT LISTEN and loves to hear herself talk. I didn't like her very much because of that. It felt like the interview was 90% her making speeches out of some manager's empowerment seminar handbook and 10% me being allowed to say something.

This is going to be a very tough chice if they offer me a job, which is highly probable based on what the manager hinted at. Fuck. I hate making decisions!

I am kind of rooting for the Sedish hospital too simply because my ancestory is swedish! lol ;) Really though, whatever happens it will all turn out for the best. No harm in trying. And don't feel like a bad guy because you are with someone already. It is our responsibility as citizens to work at the place that has the most pros. For OUR sake, not theirs. The parts about being closer to home and just plain old excitement of it being the emer room sound cool! ;) Not saying anything against the poor folks with emergencies...just more entertainment I guess!

Yup, the ER is more entertaining. Do you ever watch the TV show ER? Y'know the rather large, youngish guy who stands behind the counter shuffling papers? That's the job I'd be doing.

Oh I know exactly who...the dude from the old show called Parker Lewis Can't Lost. I believe his name was Jerry on that one. God my memory is so selective!!
